A Swamp, Or Is It

This appears to be a swamp. Well, it’s more than that. It’s a storm water management pond. Run off from the city streets drain into this pond before going into the lake. It allows several things to occur.
- sediments have time to settle,
- excess nutrients are removed by wetland plants,
- micro-organisms living on the surface of vegetation decrease bacteria levels.
The images uses the rule of thirds because the trees in the background take up about 1/3 of the image. The opening in the grass is offset slightly from the center.
